How do I correctly tag a minor gravel pit? (It's not my image, but the gravel pits I've found look similar.) asked 21 Jan '11, 17:46 gnurk |
That should be tagged as landuse=quarry. If possible, you can draw it as an area, to indicate how big it is. You could also add an appropriate tag for resource=* to specify what is being extracted. answered 21 Jan '11, 18:51 Vclaw Thanks! I will go for landuse=quarry until further. The OSM community seems to be split between landuse=quarry, landuse=surface_mining, surface_mine, mining, etc...

I can't believe sand is not included under the resources tag. There are a lot of sand and gravel quarries round here, for the road and building industries. Obscure metals don't come into it.
