How do I download the videos from the 2013 State of the Map US? I would like to view them offline. I can't seem to even find the normal Vimeo page for the videos linked to from http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/State_Of_The_Map_U.S._2013 |
The files are now available for direct download at the internet archive as mentioned on talk. answered 24 Jun '13, 18:08 Vincent de P... ♦ |
There's no supported way from Vimeo or OpenStreetMap but it's possible to grab the URL used by Vimeo and save the file by using an HTTP web debugger such as the tools built into Chrome (via Developer Tools→Network→ …) or Fiddler2. In particular, after obtaining the URL of the video, one can save the file. answered 24 Jun '13, 09:14 Zian aseerel4c26 ♦ Similarly that should also work for all other browsers - start your tool, playing the video and then look in the list of network connections (via browser built-in tools, addons, network packet analysers, …).

See this mailing list post for instructions on how to download using Chrome/Safari. answered 19 Jun '13, 11:45 Richard ♦ |
I'm not sure what you mean by "download" -- I'll assume downloading to your web browser for streamed viewing, not into a file for offline access; downloading streaming videos as files from Vimeo is specific to Vimeo. You can find the overview SOTM-US 2013 page on the Vimeo Pro site: http://vimeopro.com/openstreetmapus/state-of-the-map-us-2013/. Use the dots at the bottom to cycle through the three pages. answered 19 Jun '13, 07:12 goldfndr While offtopic for help.osm.org, I ve seen the question asked many times. There are plenty of ways to download video from vimeo/youtube/etc. My favorite is to use a firefox extension like downloadhelper, altough there are many similar ones.

"files from Vimeo is specific to Vimeo" No, they're not - they're just .mp4s.
