Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

When I'm drawing buildings on the map, I'd like to select all buildings I've drawn. In Potlatch 2, I just select all the buildings by click + shift, but if I do same in iD, the editor panel doesn't open.

So, I can select the buildings, but not edit. What to do?

I've added "in iD" to your question title. Because without that self-imposed constraint, the obvious reply is "use JOSM". ;)

At the moment, you can select multiple features and do geometry operations on them - edit, join, and merge - but cannot edit the tags of multiple objects at the same time. We haven't really found a way to make that kind of editing user-friendly and free of corner cases yet, but it will be supported when we do.

At the time of this answer, iD has been updated and you can now edit multiple objects at the same time (changelog).
