What is Mapsforge in relation to Openstreetmap? Don't get the point. asked 08 Apr '13, 21:47 veldfiets edited 09 Apr '13, 14:28 aseerel4c26 ♦ |

Mapsforge currently provides a mapping library for use on Android. It's not "officially" part of OSM (but then very few useful OSM things are "official". the "getting started" page does assume familiarity with both Eclipse and Maven, so if you're not, you might want to start a little further back. If it's Android development you're unfamiliar with, there are some excellent tutorials starting here. answered 09 Apr '13, 10:27 SomeoneElse ♦ |
Openstreetmap is the group that collect the data used to make the map and is not set up for big downloads of map data, Mapsforge is for distributing the data. See Mapsforge in our wiki. answered 08 Apr '13, 22:46 andy mackey edited 08 Apr '13, 23:49 aseerel4c26 ♦ |
