I've had multiple drivers (we're a shipping and receiving company) tell us that their mapping system told them that we are a mile or two farther north than we actually are. I checked Google Maps and could never find the problem. Today I stumbled on this site and discovered it is the problem. Can someone help us make the change to CORRECT the problem created by OpenStreetMap (OSM)? Our street address is 1619 South Rancho Santa Fe Road, San Marcos, California 92078. We are, in fact, just SOUTHEAST of Rancho Santa Fe Rd. and Melrose Drive. NOT a mile or two up the road on Rancho Santa Fe Rd. This also pertains to the buildings that surround us, like 1621 South Rancho Santa Fe Rd. (we used to be in that building). I simply can't take the time to learn how, but I think it's in OSM's best interest to have correct map information posted. This error impacts about 30 businesses that are mislabeled on the map. Thanks for any help you can provide or generate.

This address was loaded from the TIGER data set (http://www.census.gov/geo/maps-data/data/tiger.html) which is a free US government data set giving rough address data for the whole USA. While it is possible that the delivery drivers you mention are using OSM it is also possible that they are using that data directly. We should get the data fixed in OSM but this may not resolve your problem. If you know the delivery companies you could try emailing this with a pointer to your place https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/25/how-do-i-add-a-marker-to-a-map

I would help if you could tell us who you are. At the moment we just know where you should be, but not where you currently are. What's the name of your business, and could you link to where you're currently mapped as on OSM, and to where you should be. To get a link, find the place on OSM and right click the "Shortlink" at the bottom right of the map, copy and paste the result.
It seems that nominatim returns the centerpoint of South Rancho Santa Fe Road for addresses that are not mapped jet. This address is one of them.
There are multiple buildings in that area where that address is supposedly located.

Our business is JT&T Packaging. But next to us is a surfboard company, a food supplier (M5), and a motorcycle parts distributor (Z1). Is that what you're looking for?
You really should try editing the map youreself. It is not as complicated as it may seem in the beginning. I did some basic mapping in the area, that will help you get started.
You can add addresses to correct buildings and add points for companies. Or if one building is used by one company, then add the information on the building itself.
On the lower left corner in potlatch is advanced button. You can add additional information (like company info) from there. Search the wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Main_Page for relevant tags.
It should also be noted that OSM is not killing your business; drivers who aren't 10% smarter than the satnav they're using and lacking in basic navigational skills might just be, though.
Hire a local highschool kid/your nephew/... to do the mapping for you!
