Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Hi I am trying to export some OSM data but am having difficulties, getting a Bad Commad message when I try to export it as GML format and a message about the server being too busy when I try it as PNG. I am keen to try and use some of this data in a QGIS software and wonder if you can help with the best format to export it.

Thanks,

Iain

You're probably better off with a data extract than a live export. Have a look at this previous question.
