While I can see the tag Optician under Crafts & Shops Category in the features Wiki list, I can't find it anywhere while editing the map. Actually I can't find the category Crafts altogether. Any guidance? I am from India, Kolkata, if that helps.

Thanks in advance

Hi look here please, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Optician for the optician. for the crafts look at the same place. Ps ad them using the advanced menu in P2 accordingly to the key and value. Feel free to ad your shop or anything else thats besides a track or road. To be more polite heres another one http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:craft for crafts.

That did solve the problem partially. But when I edit the features like you said above, I can't add the name of the shop or any other features like road name or operating hours. Any pointers for that?

You can add whatever you want in advanced mode, you just need to know the correct tags. In the green box on the right side of the key:shop page (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Shop), it lists many common tags like the ones you mention, with links to each if you need more info on how to use them.

Hi @Ritwick! The simple mode of Potlatch2 just interprets/shows some of the advanced mode's data (that is what is actually written/inside our database). Similarly you can only add/edit some map features with the simple mode.

You solved the optician problem with @Hendrikklaas' help already, fine! If you use a "name" field in the simple mode Potlatch2 actually adds a key "name" and assigns a value "whateveryouvetypedintothenamefield". You can see this if you look at existing map objects via the Advanced mode. I nearly always use the advanced mode. So to add a tag for the name of the shop just add this tag in the advanced mode: name=whateverthenameis (switch to the next/right field/column instead of typing the "=").

See Potlatch_2#How_to_use_Potlatch_2 in our wiki (I would like to emphasize the very helpful keyboard use) for help with Potlatch2.

Hi Ritwick, since your new here, be welcome, keep adding and take a look at the Wiki. I hesitate to say but it’s a world apart and for almost any question you want to ask there is an answer in it. For instance ad value or key in the menu of at this address, http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/w/index.php?search=key&title=Special%3ASearch, and value gives you a view of many tags all together. Happy Mapping
