Can I connect osmdroid to a custom mapserver?

Hello, I'm trying to connect my android application to a mapserver installed in a Ubuntu os. After searching in the forums I found some answers like changing XYTileSource to put the new server url. Is this is the unique solution? If it's OK. Can I move the rendered map in my android application without any other changes???
