Hi Peter, here is a list how to best print a map: OSM_on_Paper (some offer also a grid - but I do not know if coordinate grid overlays are easily available).

However, if your GPS is from Garmin and is able to display maps you can but a OSM map on it. See: OSM_Map_On_Garmin

Depends on what sort of grid lines you want, but you could try Where's The Path?.

This can display OpenStreetMap maps (Standard style or Cycle Map), and has the option of displaying a grid on top. Available grids are Ordnance Survey Great Britain or WGS84 latitude and longitude.

You can then print a map from that.
