I'd want to export osm maps on my ashtech MobileMapper10, and the documentation indicates .osm format files. But the exports on osmstreetmap.org site seem to have .png fileformat, which doesn't seem to can be recognized by my mobilemapper

Thanks for your answer

How much data do you need? If it's a very small area then the "export" tab on the main site should work. However, I suspect that you would be better with one of the country and area extracts described on this page.

I tend to use extracts from here, but other download sites are available.

If you try and export too big an area using the "Export" tab you may get issues such as this one.

Thank you for your answer. As I map forests, I need small areas with acurate natural data such as paths, waterways, altitude contour lines ...

You're not going to be able to get useful contour lines out of OSM. Have a look at this previous question.

Select OpenStreetMap XML Data and you should get a .osm file.
