the existing street is incorrectly split. How to split correctly?

1

Hi, I'm trying to enter some missing street names, but the existing street is incorrectly split. See https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit?lat=59.39869&lon=17.99103&zoom=17 I entered the name Linvävarvägen, but this street actually stretches all the way till it meets Rådanvägen. And there should be three separate ways joining it (I just entered Lingränd). See what it should really be here http://www.hitta.se/LargeMap.aspx?var=linv%e4varv%e4gen

I browsed the docs, but can't see anything about this? /Hans

Just split the way once more so that you can add the name to the matching parts of the way. With Josm you just mark the node where you want to split the way and press "P". (Or have a look at "Tools")

Please do not merge the way where you think it is split "incorrectly". There are a lot of reasons why ways are split, e.g. changing maxspeed, surface, name or a turn restriction.

In this case please mark the answer as "accepted" to change the questions status from "unanswered" to "answered". Thanks. (c&ped from petschge) malenki
