I have uploaded pieces of traces from my track logs using my Nuvi 205. These have timestamps on them. However, I would also like to draw Polyline tracks/routes from GPSMapEdit to upload to OSM. These polyline tracks are without timestamps and the upload failed. How do I go about to include timestamps in my GPSMapeEdit drawn tracks? Is there any software to assist in inserting timestamps? asked 26 Dec '10, 09:49 sonnyoh Jonathan Ben... |
Thanks for the enlightenment stephen75 but this is not what I mean by your, QUOTE:- "to get GPX tracks from other sources by "copied" tracks from maps rather than logging ways on your own in the real world." UNQUOTE. I had my previous live track-logs, if you will, and had them converted to routable polylines which I am now unable to reverse the conversion in order to get back the timestamp to upload them. Would appreciate any help on this... answered 28 Dec '10, 15:24 sonnyoh |
The mechanism of needing timestamps in GPX tracks that are to be uploaded is aiming exactly at the point you want to do, namely to get GPX tracks from other sources by "copied" tracks from maps rather than logging ways on your own in the real world. So please don't insert artificially timestamps in GPX data that you have got from maps. When you have free map data than you can insert in OSM without any legal concern there are other ways to integrate them in the main data by import. But in this case you should tell us first about the origin of your map data ... answered 27 Dec '10, 16:36 stephan75 |
