Hi Guys

After a quick look around I noticed that this was abandoned

http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Proposed_features/Milestones

Is there anyway to get this back off the ground again. We are willing to make a reasonable donation and provide any additional work back to the OpenStreetMap community.

Our goal is to make it easier for railway infrastructure workers to easily find the nearest access point for a specific mileage/milestone/kilometre peg.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It's not the tag itself that is abandoned, but the proposal system is abandoned by many people.

There are 11 001 highway=milestone and 1 043 railway=milestone in the database. If you want more of them, then just tag them. If you are planning a massive import however then please see the import guidelines and other questions on this helpsite about imports.

EDIT: Over a year later and now there are a lot more railway=milestone in the database. This tag is now visible on the OpenRailwayMap.
