How can I explain historic point of view about a church like " roman style of the XIIe cent"

There were architecture style tags proposed - they are in use somehow (2116 uses) - but I do not know of any discussions which support or discourage the use of this tags - but the proposal's page has a red warning banner.

You can tag the year of construction using start_date and the historic period using historic:period. However note that we only map things that are still on the ground and not things that have been there in the past but are removed now.
