Taking screenshot of a map and adding elements for print publication?

1

Hi,

is it allowed to take a simple screenshot of a map area, paste it into a graphical software for adding graphical elements and use this in a print publication (info material for workshop participants)? And I have to add only the note "openstreetmap.org" into this graphic?

Thanks, carlos

Yes, it is allowed as long as you credit OSM. This is addressed in the Legal FAQ:

Our requested attribution is "© OpenStreetMap contributors". You must make it clear that the data is available under the Open Database Licence. This can be achieved by providing a "License" or "Terms" link which links to www.openstreetmap.org/copyright or www.opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl.

and:

For a printed map, the credit should appear beside the map if that is where other such credits appear, and/or in the "acknowledgements" section of the publication (often at the start of a book or magazine).

Okay, thanks. And for German "readers", it would be "© OpenStreetMap und Mitwirkende, CC-BY-SA" :)

@mtemp: https://www.openstreetmap.org/copyright/de mentions a different attribution. Also only mentioning cc-by-sa (which applies to the tiles) is probably not enough. If I understand correctly, ODbL needs also to be mentioned even if you do not distribute the raw data but only rendered tiles.
