as obvious as it must be, i can't find how to mark multiple places --restaurants, etc. -- on a city map so i can make a city-wide itinerary. How do i do this? can i manually mark spots on streets?

If you're looking for some sort of "my places" feature then the answers to this previous question may help.

thanks so much for the help and patience ... it looks as if this will get me started in the right direction.

Not sure that it does. I added a name to a sports club that I play for in the edit section (with Potiatch 2). The name shows clearly in the edit map. When I switch back to the view map it doesn't show.

Names should show up eventually (provided something else isn't in the way). If this is the one that you were talking about, it does show up now.
