I activated Wifi but program refuses to find it. also, where is the switch to change to MPH, I dont and never will use km/h.

It sounded from the original question like you're trying to install data from within NavFree itself, which is probably going nowhere near OSM's servers. Perhaps you could clarify what exactly you are doing?

If you just want a country extract of OSM data there there are details on the planet wiki page - personally I use the PBF-format "great_britain" one from Geofabrik, but depending on what you want and where you are another format may be more appropriate. What this won't do however is get the data to your phone in a format that Navfree can understand** - if you need help with that you'll need to ask elsewhere.

** Having never used Navfree I don't know whether it is even possible to update the data that Navfree uses.

i installed nav free which then auto goes to the map selection, I select UK and it starts downloading but exceptionally slow and also is 389mb in total so its usling up most of my monthly allowance, but it continuously pauses and I cannot get map downloaded for these two reasons.

Can I download it into Samsung Kies on my pc software then transfer it to phone

Navfree is not part of the OpenStreetMap project (although it does use OpenStreetMap data). It's created by a company called Navmii.

If you having problems with a commercial product you'll need to contact (in the UK in the first instance) the shop that you bought it from, or (in countries without equivalent consumer protection legislation) the company concerned.

You may also be able to obtain assistance from other Navmii users in their forum.

Do a search for "navfree" in the searchbox of this site and you might find some answers to your issues.
