Hi all,

there are 2 areas in the map of Singapore, which don't get rendered properly.

1st problematic area fixed see my answer

I wonder where the problem is. Anybody knows?

  1. Rivers should be tagged with a way tagged with waterway=river in the centre to show the flow of the water and optionaly a way or multipolygon outlining the river tagged with waterway=riverbank. See the wiki for documentation.
  2. Coastlines are not updated as frequently as the other features as it requires a lot of resources to find out what is sea and what is land.

  1. This is no river just a strait.
  2. Let's see whether it is better in a few weeks time

Thanks for your help.

Other mappers have used drain, lake, river and riverbank for this inland area of the water in problem (1) which seems odd, It would be best for mappers in the area to come to consistent decision. Note there isn't a strait in the tags. In my opinion as the water gets wider as it gets closer to the sea it probably flows like a river so that is how what I would tag it.

In the first example the tag for what should be a riverbank polygon is tagged river which would explain why it is not rendered, so you could try changing that. In the second case an attempt as been made to repair the coastline according to the edit note but I have no experience of coastline mapping so cannot offer more on that one.
