Hi all, I'm quite new to osm and I added new locations with potlatch but they are only shown on potlatch, not on the map.

Is it a question of time, authority or any other reason to work on osm? I tried several times in the last 2 weeks now but didn't get any results. Any suggestions? Alex

If you post a "permalink" (using the link in the bottom-right-hand corner of the map) we'd be able to have a look at the particular area.

Short answer: Sometimes it takes a while; or, you may have added locations that are not rendered on the map that you are looking at (check if other locations of the same type are shown). Not every POI you can add in Potlatch does actually have an icon on every map.

Longer answer: I have made edits but thy don't show up on the map.

If by map you mean the OSM map (or Mapnik), then you have hit upon a common problem. The Mapnik map only renders the most "common" POIs. If you have entered a legitimate POI such as shop=dry_cleaning, this map will ignore it. It means that you will need to create your own map to show any of your special POIs. There is software for this, such as Typwiz published by Pinns, and in fact it will spur you to creating a map that suits your interests best using OSM data.
