I'm just getting to grips with editing, and there is so much to learn .. so here's a specific problem I have in my understanding. There are two bike shops on Shields Road Byker Newcastle upon Tyne UK. The icon for Edinburgh Coop is visible at all (appropriate) zoom levels but the icon for Cycle Centre disappears at high magnification.

Any simple explanation ?

Please, give us a permalink to the location you're talking about.

Assuming you are talking about this place: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=54.977765&lon=-1.575766&zoom=18&layers=M, then these two bicycle shops render correctly on all zoom levels. Your internet browser is most probably caching old tiles. You may try to bypass your browsers cache and see if this helps.

I think you may be referring to the "Cycle map" layer, so this permalink: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=54.977765&lon=-1.575766&zoom=18&layers=C

It is true that at some zoom levels, currently just one bike shop is shown on the map. I think this is just because OpenCycleMap is a bit out of date, and different zoom levels may be updated at different times. See this previous question When does a change get updated on the OpenCycleMap?

It seems OpenCycleMap is currently a few weeks behind in some places, on some zoom levels. Though this may vary, depending on how many people have viewed a particular area, and how busy the servers are.

So just wait a while, then both bike shops should be shown correctly.
