I cannot see the map on the main web page. It is blank. When I type "edit" I get the message "zoom in to edit the map"

What browser/operating system? Did you try to clear the browser cache? Does it occur on all layers?

To see the map on your browser, I guess you need javascript enabled. You might also have a problem with the url: test this on your browser to see one tile (image) : http://a.tile.openstreetmap.org/18/132772/90180.png If this image fails, then you have a problem somewhere in your config (a firewall or a plugin blocking this url). To edit the map, you have to select first a smaller area on display otherwise it will be too much data to retrieve from the database. That's why the message tells you to "zoom in". Your browser needs Adobe Flashplayer or compatible with "ActionScript3" applications.
