I improved my neighborhood and entered some house addresses a couple of weeks ago. The houses and address appear on the map, but if I enter the address in the search bar, they're not found. Am I doing something wrong?

Have a look at this previous question.

According to the Platform Status Nominatim (our search engine) is still not updating due to the redaction process (which has been already completed). Nominatim itself reports it data to be from 2012/07/10.

Guess I need to do some more reading about OSM, because I have no idea what you just said.

That's why I provided several links :) As you did not provide a permalink to the area you modified I cannot tell if the data you entered is correct. However it is a known problem that newly entered address data currently doesn't get found, just wait some time until the date reported at http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/ is past the date of your edit.

You have to explain first that the "search bar" is using a tool called "Nominatim". And second, this tool is not searching directly into the OSM database but is using its own database normally synchromized with the main database (and customized for its needs). Last, the Nominatim database is outdated because the synchronisation process with the OSM database is suspended since one month.

If you want to see the delay of the data import in minutes, look here: http://munin.openstreetmap.org/openstreetmap/poldi.openstreetmap/nominatim_importlag.html

In normal cases, this is a few minutes, but you see it has stopped since July 10th.
