Split .osm file without fragmenting ways and relations

I need to split .osm file into smaller files and dont want to break any ways and relations. Can someone suggest an automated tool for that? Maybe the "search" tool in JOSM could do that but I am not really familiar with its rules... Thanks in advance!

1	Have a look at OSMT, Osmosis, Splitter I found these ones by enterring "split" in the search box of the OSM wiki ... But I don't know how each program deals with ways at the edges ... answered 12 Jul '12, 16:54 stephan75 12.6k●5●56●210 accept rate: 6%
