You should message the person and ask why he deleted the relation, there might be a fully rational explenation as to why he did it. Do not recreate the relation without sending him a message as that might start an edit war. answered 30 Jun '12, 17:55  Gnonthgol ♦ 3 One thing that I'd definitely do is to check how long the other editor has been editing - it might just be an error by a new editor who's no idea what a relation is. I'd tailor the message to the other user according to how long they've been editing, so that a new user gets "welcome to OSM, by te way, I notice that xyz seemed to get deleted" rather than "why did you delete xyz"? I messaged the person who explained that he had first copyright concerns, had wanted to contact me but did not, and eventually deleted the relation by mistake with JOSM-rawedit. In the meantime, I got an agreement by email from the authors of the book where the walking route is described. I added a transcript of the email to the Project_France wiki.
