Hi there I'm trying to learn how to use Open Street Map. I've got the question referred to in the title. In Wellington, NZ why for example is the name "Lambton Quay" visible - yet "Farmers Lane" (off Lambton Quay) is shown - but the name isn't displayed (unless I hover the cursor over the top)?

Similarly, I added the building Lambton House - yet the name "Lambton House" is not shown - unlike "Bowen House" shown at the other end of the block?

Thank you,

John

Label on the map are rendered in function of available space and other labels and icons. Choose made with rules into the renderer engine. I think you talk about the default renderer Mapnik. But here is other style and renderer. On osm.org main page you can see some, at right top of the map you can change the displayed one by open tab with blue "+".
