Query all areas around a given point

Hi,

I am using Postgres+Postgis+Osmosis setup and now I want to make efficient query: "Return all areas surrounding point(lat, lon)." So far I haven't found any tutorial showing this. I am novice in spatial databases so maybe I am missing some basics.
