Hi everybody,

Today I got a question about wich tag for a place, how french people understand it. A place is not only a village / town / city . It's more like a square but without any natural aspect (this can be a large area of asphalt for ex.) . You an found it in town, in front of official bulding or cultural one. Few times you can found it too beside big mall.

So what's your opinion about it ?

Regards

You can also tag an area as a highway, with area=yes. Example:

highway=pedestrian

area=yes

name=XYZ

In Potlatch 2 "simple mode", click on the second register (the one, that looks like a checkbox), expand the menu "physical" and check the "open area" checkbox.

You can also add other tags as needed, e.g. amenity=parking, amenity=marketplace and so on
