I have downloaded bunch of tiles and displayed a map using JXMapviewer. But I'm facing issues in displaying actual locations on the map. Looks like there is no conversion between lat/long and map coordinates. is it possible to show locations on local maps?

I have not found much other than the lat long display in polatch2 or josm editors but does this help http://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/25/how-do-i-add-a-marker-to-a-map if not a little more detail of what you wish to do may get a better answer.

I think , the only way is converting Lat/Long to screen coordinates.
