I received an upload error message: "Precondition failed. Node 83564195 is still used by ways 45191202." If I can find the node, I'll delete it. How do I find it?

Slightly off the question, but if you can find a way to reliably reproduce that error, we'd love to know.

Here's more information. I did find the node in question, and it was on a track that I had deleted because it was no longer visible and went nowhere. The node was where the track had joined another track (which is probably why it was "still being used"). I added a few more edits and saved again. There was no problem. By the way, this happens to me about once a month, though the error message is not always the same. Sometimes, the message is "Version mismatch." Sometimes I seem to lose just one node and sometimes an entire way. Anyway, hope that's helpful.

In a different browser session I'd go to http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/node/83564195 , click edit, take (manual) note of any node tags, delete the node, save and close your original Potlatch session, then re-edit the area, adding back in a joining to replace the one that you deleted earlier.

Thanks! That was remarkably straightforward and easy to do. Was it in the wiki? I didn't find it.

I've no idea if it's in the wiki anywhere - it's a pretty unusual occurance (I've only ever seen it where multiple concurrent editing sessions clash).
