After logging on, I choose edit (loads P2) and I get the symbols on the lhs, but the map part is blank. I have ad-blocking, but can see the normal map views.

11.2 should be fine. 10.3 may be problematic.

I was a bit cryptic; I've done the upgrade, still nothing on the map pane; I was able to edit last year!

You may try to turn off adblocking and try without it. You may also try to completely reload page (Ctrl+R for opera and Ctrl+Shift+R for chrome).

Yes. I've done the obvious close restart stuff. Do I need to allow cookies? or java to store locally? seems to be the answer, I see it now.
