Is it OK to upload other's GPS traces that were put it into "public domain" by releasing them under CC0 instrument in a private e-mail/message addressed to me? I've accepted public domain for my own contributions to OSM.

The reason for this question is the following: I want to obtain additional source data for some place with poor coverage (Kemer, Turkey) by finding GPS traces on the Internet and asking trace contributors to release the traces under CC0.

It would be apreciated if you made a seperate account for the import. That way it is easy to distinguish betwean what is your traces and what is the import.

And gpx traces themselves are not that usfull without the metadata that comes with it. It is very limited what traces and satelite images can contribute in terms of metadata.

Importing traces with a "public domain" license or CC0 license is legal, and giving the license or permission to upload the trace over e-mail is acceptable. But it would be much better if you get them to map and not just give you traces.
