Hello, I attended to FOSSGIS conference 2 weeks ago, where I got the Idea to use the OSM map on an Garmin Nüvi device. I bought a Nüvi 1340T CE and an SD card. Now I can’t figure out how to put the map on the device. I have a gmasupp.img file which works fine through MapSource with my Garmin Vista HC. http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Mass_Storage_Mode Following this page I created a folder /map/ on the SD card including the gmasupp.img file. How do I tell the navi not to use the standard map? Thanks for any hint eactor asked 29 Mar '12, 15:50 eactor |
The folder has not to be called "garmin" ? (perhaps 'map' is also okay). On my 60CSx, it is automatically selected but I've read you might select it through "tools / settings / map / map info". Please check the wiki http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin answered 29 Mar '12, 15:57 Pieren "Menu / Tools / Settings / Map / Map Info" works on my Nuvi 265w. I put the gmapsupp.img file in the "Garmin" folder on the device.

I have a 1310t I assume very similar to 1340T. I can put the same SSD or a copy of it that works in my Vista HCX (micro SSD with map in "garmin" folder) into it and in works fine.To select alternative maps on the 1340t try this after turn on select the following, tools, settings, map, info, then select or deselect relevant maps. The map displays a little differently to vista HCX display but the 1310T will record a GPX trace and save them on the card for later mapping use. answered 29 Mar '12, 23:10 andy mackey
