Hi, I have a Garmin Dakota 20 in which a ' OpenStreeMap'-map in loaded. I have some good experiences with this, during cycling tours in the U.S. and Northwest Europe. Everything worked often for satisfaction.

Last I made with again a tour with my Dakota 20, in the South part of the Netherlands (including a piece across the German border). As I often had done before I used at a given moment the "where to?"-function and searched for a place, that appeared in the list. If all is well then calculates the Dakota 20 the distance and the associated route. However not In this case because I got an error message. "the roads of the map are navigable", (or a something with similar scope). The distance-calculation could not be run. The only thing that appeared in the map of the screen was the site of the place, where I was looking for (without route designator). Also navigating did not work.

On the way home I have tried it again a few times (most recently in den Bosch, however always with same error message. Once home, I tried again (environment Utrecht) with the same dakota , same card and same search: now with with desired result, including the distance calculated and mapped the route was faultless and navigating also managed.

Does anyone know a explanation for this problem?

About the question: The exact error message you get is important. It was probably "de wegen van de kaart zijn niet navigeerbaar" (otherwise it would be a funny error). Could you correct that in your question?

Can you go to http://open.mapquest.com/ or http://map.project-osrm.org/ to retry the navigation requests to see if anything strange comes up ? That should rule out broken map data.

Another thing you need to make sure : did you load Netherlands and Germany as two different files on your dakota, and if so did the failing navigations cross the border ?

hi,

here my reaction: I 'm not sure about the exact formulation of the error message but I'm sure about what was in it, because I wondered, about it when I saw it. So the message showed that the roads where navigatable. also I'm sure it has nothing to do with crossing the border. Last summer I used the same map in the north of Germany and everithing worked perfect. Last weekend I was in the naberhood of Zwolle (eastern part of the Netherlands) and there were no errors either. I tried the the links which were send in the last message for the part of Germany where the errors appeared in the DACOTA. Using the links there were no problems at all.
