Can any one help me in simple terms. I have a garmin Montana 650t I'm travelling Africa north central and south America. I'm trying to avoid spending more $ on buying the maps from garmin. Firstly can I use the free OSM on my garmin Montana? If so in simple explanation....how do I do it? Please please please if anyone can help me, mucho appreciated, I'm a bit lost with the techy stuff on here. Any info or links to how to sites or vid would be awesome. Thanks all :) asked 25 Mar '12, 11:51 globalincsafari |
Hi, this FAQ site has a search field. so you could try to type "garmin" in there, and you get many topics that deal with using OSM map data on Garmin devices. Also there is a collection of information about that topic in the OSM wiki -> wiki.osm.org Type garmin in the search field there, and you can easily find out whether your device can use OSM data. answered 25 Mar '12, 16:39 stephan75 |

This link is probably the easiest way and should work, but the montana is a newer model and things can change. You may find, as I have with a Nivi 1390 garmin that you can have several maps of different names in the memory card.On older units GMAPsupp was the only name that would load. which was the case on the Vista HCX.http://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/3785/osm-on-garmin answered 27 Mar '12, 16:07 andy mackey |
