Is there an easy way of reaching out to the other members contributing EV site data? We will need to define a lot more data about each of the EV sites to make this a useful resource to the EV Community (connector types, voltage, current, charger type, live status, etc.). asked 12 Oct '10, 12:20 Kevin Sharpe aseerel4c26 ♦ |
The only way to reach out to other mappers is to be a member of the mapping community yourself. Sincere collaboration requires sincere participation. Participate. Join mailing lists, participate in web fora, meet with local mappers, enter discussions. The road to engaging the OpenStreetMap community is littered with failed projects who couldn't be bothered, or were too busy, to participate in the OSM community. Be that mapper you want to engage. Be connected with your community and mappers. Create a benefit to the community and share your experience. Regarding the current state of charging stations in OSM: There are several excellent tools for searching the OSM database. This data from TagInfo is from 06 October 2010. http://taginfo.openstreetmap.de/keys/fuel:electricity 90 objects 67 Yes 21 No 2 FIXME answered 12 Oct '10, 14:48 Richard Weait We are very happy to participate. However, we are deploying over 1,000 charge points and the industry as a whole is deploying millions. I'd like to understand what's been done so far and engage with the existing contributors to save wasting effort. I've been unable to find any charge points in the existing database... I'm sure that's simply the way I'm looking but it would be more useful to answer my questions than to simply say "participate".

I would also add that I had signed up as a member of OSM. What I did not realise was that was to the OSM Help and not to OSM.... no sure how a new member spots the difference.
