I would like to extract the locations of filling stations for my uni research. How can I do that? Is there, say, a url where all are stored; or urls of features/tags files in any broad area?

For how big area do you need this data?

For the UK, but if that's not practical then for Wales.

You may look at the xapi or overpass, or you can download a planet extract and filter it yourself.
