I want to use maps in my ebook , photo geography New Zealand, but the OSM maps I have seen are covered in aeroplane ikons, how to get rid of them

You cannot remove these icons from the ready-made map tiles on www.openstreetmap.org; these are bitmaps and the airfield icons cannot be removed from them. But you can make your own tiles without airfield symbols, or maybe you find a set of tiles made by someone else that doesn't have them.

Enter "map style" in the search box above and browse some of the answers, most importantly "How do I render my own maps for my website".
