I'm new to OpenStreetMap, actually still playing around. I'm interested in using an "Export" map image inside of an iBook Author widget (just base map data, no POI, etc) where I would layer on additional layers post-export. I would intend to sell my iBook via Apple's bookstore for digital consumption on iOS devices. Could someone tell me if this model is allowable, and if so what the appropriate annotation would be, format and location (in image, annotation page, etc.)? Thanks! asked 02 Mar '12, 04:55 mcnejef |
Re the legality of it, have a read of this question and answers here. answered 02 Mar '12, 12:34 SomeoneElse ♦ |
Yes, this model is allowed. We have other questions already replied about using OSM in books. Use the search function on the top of the page or check one of them here. Basically, you only have to credit OpenStreetMap somewhere in your iBook. But your question is not only legal. You also want "a base map without POI" which means that you will have to find an OSM map already rendered without POI's (might have additional legal requirements) or create your own customized rendering style (which is the strong advantage of OSM). answered 02 Mar '12, 08:21 Pieren |
