Why not ask your question on the new OpenStreetMap Community Forum?

Hi everyone,

I'm a beginner at all this but I'll be really interested to know what resources are available to using OpenStreetMap as the basis of an location-based app or site, somewhat similar to how the google maps API is used (but they charge for businesses).

thanks!
