Which POI icons are you referring to? There are many maps that display OSM data, and many editors used to edit it, and they all have POI icons. Which ones are you interested in?

I didn't know different OSM programs used different icons for the same data. The icons on the OSM homepage would be nice, but I'd like to borrow anything with a CC license.

Try this excellent set of icons used by Potlatch 2.
