If you look at Martongate in Bridlington, the whole estate is missing to the north. Its been there at least 40 years that I know of.

This is probably because nobody in OSM has mapped this area before. You are welcome to map this area yourself. Please visit the Beginners Guide to get started. Or you might want to just file a bug report at OpenStreetBugs.

OpenStreetMap has started map the world from scratch. So start with empty map and contributors fill streets after streets, building global map. Place are still empty, probability to find this kind of place depend of place and country.

You can start your self contributing at OpenStreetMap by surveying on ground or from your computer by using aerial imagery and so on.
