If I save part of a sizeable edit and describe what I've done it works ok up to that point, if I then continue to edit and save again it saves without giving me any chance to describe what else I've done.whats best? Potlatch 2 is very good and like how quick my contributions appear on web.Enjoyed looking at etrex vista with a OpenStreetNap complete with my additions. |

Potlatch 2 keeps the current changeset open while you're working. This should encourage you to save early and save often. :) If you want to start a new changeset for your next save, you'll need to close the current one first. That's easy. When you want to close a changeset, just press 'C' for Close. A little blue confirmation message will float up once it's been successfully closed. Next time you save, a new changeset will be created, and so you'll be asked for a new edit summary. thanks Richard

The problem, as I see it, is that you can add further changes to a changeset until you decide (or remember) to close it, but you cannot add further comments to describe the further changes - or am I missing something?

That's the case, but it's not really a problem. If you want to add different comments, start a new changeset.

Fair comment, but in that case, is there anything on the screen to remind me that I have a changeset open?

No, there isn't. Don't get too hung up about whether changesets are open or closed - they're pretty much just an operational convenience.
